The station is run by dedicated volunteers, lovers of steam and of all things rail.
But it has much more to offer the rail traveler, coaches and car tourists. It has an extensive Waratah garden (our State emblem) which blooms beautifully in springtime. It would be safe to say that the display of Waratahs at our Spring Festival is beautiful and impressive easily rivalling blooms in other areas. In 2008 the number of blooms was remarkable and received many compliments from sightseers and travellers. We are hoping next season will be as equally impressive.
Our Railway Common is an sizeable picnic area at which all are welcome, with shelters and footpaths.
It features a superb memorial sculpture designed by renowned outdoor artist Bert Flugelman, commemorating the men and women who toiled on the remarkable Illawarra Mountain Railway from 1927/1932 some of whom lost their lives in this endeavour.
